Dartmouth is a mid-sized town located outside of Buzzards Bay in the South Coast region of Massachusetts. With an estimated population of approximately 34,000 people, Dartmouth shares its borders with New Bedford, Fall River, Westport and Freetown in addition to the town of Buzzards Bay. Dartmouth ranks fifth in Massachusetts in terms of total land.
A coastal town, Dartmouth’s history, and economy are deeply-rooted in the commercial fishing, agriculture and tourism industries. Dartmouth is also home the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, one of several state university campuses. Dartmouth is accessible via I-195, Massachusetts Routes 6, 140, 24 and 177. Due to the presence of several major state and interstate highways, Dartmouth experiences its fair share of auto and motorcycle accidents.
